Recognizing Great People – 1

With all the things are going on in the world, it just seems right to recognize the great people who continue to help and give with out asking for anything in return.

The next few weeks I will feature a person who carries these qualities and continues to give without asking for praise or anything in return. They are selfless and have a huge heart.

Today’s post is to recognize April Adams, the owner of Sweet Cheeks Salon and Boutique located in Rosenberg, TX.

April is a wife, and the mother of 3 beautiful children, works a full time job at her hair salon. I have known her for almost 35 plus years. She also happens to be my best friends sister. I talked with April at my last hair appointment, and we discussed a few things that really made me want to write about her.

Here is her story: IMG_2122

I met April through my best friend Misty. I can say that I never really knew too much about her, other than her being my best friend’s sister. We grew up in a small town named Wharton, where everyone knows everyone. Never would I have thought she would be the person who would my beautician.

April has really worked hard for her family, and she continues to do so today. She has really changed into a God fearing, hard working mom. Who puts her children and others before her and continues to give without asking. She is a helper in her community and she continues to strive to please God.

J&C: Why did you decide to do hair?

April: I wanted to spend more time with my children and make my own schedule. I did not want to work 6 days a week, I wanted to watch my children grow up.

J&C: What have you learned?

April:  I have learned to be more humble and that money means nothing when you love what you do. I know with every job, God puts you there for a special purpose; I feel like every time I get a new client, it’s God’s work and love reflecting back towards me.

J&C: What impact has it caused on your life?

April: I am happier with my life as a whole, my kids are happy. I get to spend more quality time with my spouse, my children and I continue to try spread God’s love. It makes my heart happy to serve others and put their needs first when their in my chair.

J&C: How was starting your own business beneficial?

April: Starting was very scary and that’s when I found my true relationship with God. I found out that he is always with me, like he has written my book way before I ever even thought of it.  I also owe a huge thanks to my spouse for secretly signing me up for hair school. One day, after getting laid off of work and pregnant with our third child, he looked at me and said, “I made a appointment for you, I’m just saying just try it out” The rest is history. Thank you God for seeing more than I ever could.

April does amazing work. I can’t tell you the many times that I have gone to her and she has worked her magic with my locks.

To recognize the talent that God has given you, and to use that talent for God is simply amazing.

  1. Beautiful post. I enjoyed this interview. What an awesome idea to recognize people. I enjoyed every part, yet especially reading how her husband signed her up for classes. Wow! And the rest is history. Awesome! 😊. I had this idea about interview moms of children with special needs, you just bought that back to me. I need to work on that. Thanks for sharing 😊
